Megan tells the story of the wedding day when Shropshire went to Cyprus
Bride and groom
I am a dental nurse and Jamie is a land surveyor. We live in Shrewsbury.
Dianne Blower and David Blower and Diane and Jack Price.
Ben Barnard and Michael Jones.
Nina Tudor (my sister); Vicky Jones (Jamies sister) and nieces Mae Blower, Katie Blower and Chloe Jones.
Where and how did you meet?
We knew each other from school and dated briefly but then took separate paths to pursue our careers. We then met several years later in a pub in Shrewsbury and never looked back.
Location for wedding and reception
We decided to get married abroad in Cyprus, it was the place where we took our first holiday together and we enjoyed it so much and said if we married, we would return, as it is such a beautiful place where you can guarantee the weather. We decided to get married at the Nissi Beach Resort in Ayia Napa after seeing so many great reviews on the internet and it did not disappoint.
I wore a pure silk gown created by Hayley J in Shrewsbury, ruched from the bust to waistline, embellished with Swarovski crystal and with a simple train. I cant thank Hayley enough it is a beautiful dress and I would recommend her to anyone.
From Marks & Spencer and the ties were from Hayley Js.
The two adult bridesmaids wore ocean green silk dress created by Hayley J and the three younger bridesmaids dresses were from Next.
The bridesmaids flowers were white roses supplied by the hotel. My bouquet was from Hayley Js, and is a metal-enamelled bouquet with open roses and diamantes with little green enamelled leaves around the outside of the hand-tied arrangement. Its something that I keep to remind me of the day, it really is a one-off.
The hairdresser at the hotel did my hair and the bridesmaids hair and my best friend Sarah Hodnett did my make-up. Our photographer was John Poole who is based in Shrewsbury, he flew over especially to capture our day and did an amazing job.
It was such a memorable day, we had 63 guests fly over to be with us and we cant thank them enough being part of our special day. The service took place at 4pm in the hotel gardens on the beach front. After the service we had champagne and canaps on the hotel veranda, which was then followed by a evening reception right on the beach front overlooking the sea with the beach a stones throw away. A buffet was served in the evening with music till the early hours.
Saying our vows and becoming husband and wife, and turning round to see all our guests. We are so touched all these people were with us to celebrate our marriage. We are truly thankful to have such amazing friends and family and we would like to say that without our parents it would not have been possible to have the wedding of our dreams. A big thank you goes to them and to our photographer John for capturing our memories.
