Shop of the Week
Lakeland in Shrewsbury is my shop of the month; with countless offers on great household goods, you can buy garden furniture, bits and bobs for a picnic, you name it. For under £10, you can get some Lavender Tealights (2.99), a big blue picnic bag (£3.99) and some caramelised onion chutney (£2.99) - that's value for money if ever I've seen it.

Sleep on a white cloud

If you suffer from asthma or restless nights' sleep, your feather down duvet could have a lot to answer for. But White Cloud Trading Company can provide a happy alternative with its range of wool duvets, underblankets and pillows.

Naturally helping to regulate body temperature and help people with allergies or breathing difficulties, wool bedding is a fully sustainable, naturally renewable product that is comfortable to sleep under all year round.

All bedding at White Cloud is made from the very finest quality merino and lambs wool from the Otago region of New Zealand and provides a natural defence against dust mites.

As a special summer offer to readers, White Cloud Trading Company is giving away a wool pillow (worth £40) when you purchase a Wanaka duvet (from £100) or its summer lightweight Tekapo duvet (from £80). To claim, just call 01989 721 010 mentioning this offer before July 31, 2008.

Sharp look, keenly priced
I'm a firm believer in the sport of bargain hunting, and I'm particularly proud of my Chris Sharp Cabinets 'trophy'. A closely-guarded secret among industry insiders, the company has built a reputation for delivering quality furniture at fantastic prices. But the launch of a great website has thrown open its warehouse doors to the public, so now everyone can avail themselves of its range of high end oak and walnut furniture, instantly recognisable by its unique 'leaf' logo.
Specialising in sustainably-sourced walnut and oak furniture from lounge to bedroom, Chris Sharp's flagship piece is its plasma TV stand, retailing at just £299 in oak and £375 in walnut. Other signature items such as this round Penta table (from £799) and bookcases (from £199) are also available in both walnut and oak. And because Chris Sharp Cabinets manufactures its own furniture at the Lincoln-based headquarters, you won't find this kind of quality at these prices elsewhere.
Happily, Chris Sharp keeps its eye on the environment too: all waste is turned into bio fuel heating pellets at a nearby Lincolnshire company, while planer shavings are turned into animal bedding or compost. To find out more, tel: 01522 504 506 or visit

The Diary

Like it or not, the dreaded summer holidays are upon - and entertaining the children is one thing that really requires some thought. I've found a couple of bargains that will keep the young ones occupied, not long no doubt!

• Woolies is pulling out all the stops this summer to ensure we all have our fair share of fun at low prices. Splash and grab a 10ft Bestway Fast-Set Pool for only £49.99 - that's a £50 saving. For more fantastic bargains, check out

• It's national ice cream day on 20th, so make it a family day out in Arley Arboretum. One of the oldest gardens in the UK, (first planted in 1820) it is a real treasure. With a picnic area and café in the vicinity, you're bound to find an ice cream van nearby. Mine's a 99.

• Sunday 6th is a big day for British sport with the climax of Wimbledon and the Silverstone Grand Prix. If, like me, you've been glued to the tennis for a fortnight, then get yourself a little memento for the tournament - these 2008 towels (as seen on TV) are available for only £24. visit

Freebie of the Month (boxed with pic)

With Midsummer's day on 21st, anyone without a barbecue to their name should take note. With its powerful infrared rotisserie and heavy duty cooking grills, you can see why a Redfyre 33 will make barbecuing a daily occurrence.
