Three Tuns Brewery of Bishops Castle, thought to be the oldest working brewery in the country, has branched out to open its first pub, in nearby Ratlinghope.

The Bridges, formerly known as The Horsehoe Inn, has been lovingly restored and finally opened last month, offering cask ales, food, open-mic live music nights and a convivial atmosphere.

For pub manager Liz Watkins the reopening of a pub on the site triggers wonderful childhood memories, which she hopes to help families create for themselves.

I have really fond memories of coming to the pub with my parents and sister, eating lunch and paddling in the brook opposite, she said. The response to the pub reopening has been incredible - the community of Ratlinghope and beyond have been very supportive and we are confident it will be a really strong asset to the area, catering for walkers, families, dog-owners and beer lovers alike.
