Fitness Instructor Simon Macdonald has tips on how to keep in shape while you're on holiday

If you're off on your summer holidays soon, but worried you'll be missing out on your usual exercise routine, then our top shape-up tips could be the answer.
The good news is there are many great exercises you can do that don't need require any special equipment. These will come in handy when you have that spare half an hour in your day to work off the previous evening's over indulgences. (Yes, we all do it sometimes!)
Follow this simple yet effective circuit to keep yourself in the same shape as you were when you left. Whether in your apartment, by the pool or on the beach, these exercises are perfect for keeping any beach body in trim. Try and perform this circuit, or as many repetitions as you can, three times every other day for optimum results.

Exercise Repetitions

1. Lunge 15 each leg
2. Press ups 15
3. Lying leg raise 15 each leg
4. Ab crunch 15
5. Tricep dips 15 (off the bed, chair or sunbed)

Holidays are a time to relax and unwind from the pressures of everyday life, however by making a few healthy choices, you'll reap the benefits even more.

• Keep hydrated - Make sure you drink plenty of water through the day to help keep the body hydrated.
• Eat fresh local produce - Try eating freshly cooked dishes from the menu that are grilled rather than deep fried e.g. opt for prawns without batter and fill up where possible on fresh vegetables, fruit and side salads.
• Limit alcohol intake - Have a little of what you fancy but set yourself sensible limits. Trying to alternate any alcoholic drinks with water will keep you hydrated but also help with the holiday hangover.
• Hotel activities: make use of the hotel arranged sporting activities and swimming pools.

We hope you all have a great time on your summer holidays,
