A sixth form student at Ellesmere College has recently received confirmation that she has been selected to run in this month's London Marathon.

A sixth form student at Ellesmere College has recently received confirmation that she has been selected to run in this month's London Marathon.

Mary Pescod, in the upper sixth and studying for A-levels in Geography, English and PE has been running four times a week since September to prepare herself for the challenge of participating in the London Marathon for the first time.

Mary's aim is to have a career in the police force and between training and studying, Mary, who has recently had her 18th birthday, has started a 13-week course to become a Special Constable. Through sponsorship for her participation in the London Marathon Mary has chosen to support the charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Helen Scarisbrick, Mary's tutor at Ellesmere College commented, "Mary is a hard-working, focused young woman who keenly pursues opportunities. As she prepares for the London Marathon we wish her well with her training schedule."
